PROJECTS

The finished product is only part of the work.

A project can be judged by what people see and use. There is also value in understanding how it was designed and built.

Broken Pickaxe projects can show both. Each eligible project provides a view of the finished result along with selected engineering evidence behind it.

Built to solve something.

Each project begins with its own problem and constraints. The resulting technology can vary because the work determines what belongs in the solution.

Project presentation should answer three questions:

What needed to be accomplished?

Explain the problem or opportunity that gave the project a reason to exist.

What was built?

Show the resulting product and the important capabilities it provides.

How was it engineered?

Present selected evidence from the decisions and verification behind the finished work.

Have an idea of your own?

A project does not need to start with a technical specification. Start with what you want to accomplish.
